Why Consciousness-Based Education?
I am currently attending Maharishi University of Management (MUM) in Fairfield, Iowa. I am enrolled in the Elementary Education masters program. My children also attend a CBE school, Maharishi School for the Age of Enlightenment (MSAE), also located in Fairfield. I intend to be either a teacher at a Consciousness-based institution, either in the states or abroad or start my own CBE school. This form of education differs from more traditional forms of education in that it allows the student the opportunity to learn from the innate intelligence that already exists within them. In this way, the focus is on the knower (the student), as opposed to the knowledge itself, which has been the traditional mode of learning. When one is able to relate knowledge to his or her own experience, true learning can take place. Consciousness based education is very near and dear to my heart, and my greatest wish is to share information about it. I have found this form of education to be quite transforming and life changing, not only from an educational standpoint but a spiritual and emotional one as well. This blog provides useful links for students and educators, as well as CBE articles, videos, and images. It also explains the philosophy behind CBE, including resources regarding implementing CBE in an existing school or starting a CBE institution. It also offers information regarding it's founder, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Finally, I have included my own related writings regarding education, an original video found on my Facebook home page, and useful applications to use in the classroom.
